Stock Market Showdown Ep 2. Disney Vs Roku (My Kids' Portfolio)

We opened custodial brokerages for our kids...here's how we're invest them

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day in the United States. I learned about Dr. King growing up and I’m familiar with the impact he has made, but I admittedly didn’t understand the specific reason today is a day of service…so I looked it up.

Each year, on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is observed as a "day on, not a day off." MLK Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."

These are great things to think about on days like today and on the other 364 days of the year.

Welcome to Stock Market Showdown

What is it? each week from Sunday - Thursday, I’m hosting a Twitter vote for 4 of what I believe are the best businesses in important industries. Then I take the top 2, compare them head to head to decide which company gets a $25 investment in my kids’ portfolios.

Why? I love getting the community involved in investing. I think this is a great way to eventually teach my kids about investing and show people one way of starting a portfolio.

I also think this will beat the market over most 1+ year time horizons.

In week 1 we focused on the Subscription Tainment Industry with Disney, Netflix, Roku, and Shopify. Here is Disney vs Roku in the final 2… (p.s. “liking” and subscribing to my YouTube channel helps greatly!)

This week we’re focused on the eCommerce industry with Amazon, Etsy, Mercado Libre, and Shopify. Get your votes in for the top 2 here…Etsy needs some love! If you don’t have a Twitter account reply to this email or leave your vote in a comment here and I’ll count it!

Thanks as always and have a wonderful week.
